Devoke Water - Lake District Walk

Sunday 29th June 2008

The location for today's walk was picked in part because it is a favourite place of ours and also because I wanted to head out to an area I knew well in order to see how much walking my ankle would cope with. There had been quite a few showers during the morning so when the afternoon appeared to promise a dry slot we made a quick exit from the campsite and headed to Birker Fell and had Devoke Water to ourselves.

Start: Birker Fell Road (SD 1708 9770)

Route: Birker Fell Road - Rough Crag - Water Crag - Devoke Water - Birker Fell Road

Distance: 3 miles     Ascent: 156 metres      Time Taken: 2 hours 30 mins

Terrain: Easy going across following vague paths to the tops.

Weather: Blue sky with a strong breeze on the tops.

Pub Visited: Brook House Inn, Boot    Ale Drunk: Timothy Taylor's Landlord
